Balefire Engine

Balefire engines are magical siege engines primarily used by combatants in the Spellscar, and by Calashi during the Usminan-Calashi War.   Acting much like mundane catapults, Balefire engines are able to launch projectiles long distances, causing major damage to structures and defensive fortifications. Unlike mundane siege weapons, Balefire engines are quite accurate, quick to load, and are much more portable.

Utility

Balefire engines come in a variety of types and sizes, ranging from small more portable units primarily used as mortars and destruction of simple barricades and fortifications, to massive pieces found in Indo that are capable of hitting targets from multiple miles away. Though these distant uses require quite a bit of planning and communication, they have found excellent use, and are in large part responsible for expansion of the Spellscar in recent years.   Made from archgold layered with numerous enchantments, these siege engines are able to make minor adjustments to themselves to allow extreme ease of use. Though skill still comes into play, a single untrained individual can quickly learn and effectively man the engines.
Discovery
Balefire engines were invented by arcane researchers in Indo during the Caheb War.
