Laukon Massacre
The Laukon Massacre was the final event of the 1st Sokol Crusade, in which the majority of the soldiers of the expedition were slain, as well as the last Sokolan king, Tarik Ghislane.
When the crusade arrived at Laukon, a small group including the king investigated the arcane university ruins in Laukon in search of tools to aid the expedition. They found the city gates open, and the group was ambushed in the basement of the university by undead.
Unlike what they had experienced before, these undead were lead by an intelligent undead who called itself the Whisperer. King Ghislane recognized the creature as a lord who once lived in the city, though now undead. Though the Whisperer itself did not attack, two of the party were killed in the fight, and Tarik barely escaped.
Meanwhile, the crusade was surrounded by hordes of undead outside the city, and retreated to the walls of Laukon. Surrounded by hordes of undead outside, and an organized undead ambush inside the city lead to the quick deaths of entire regiments.
It is said that King Tarik Ghislane and the crusaders made a final stand and covered the retreat of the Sokolan civilian settlers and non-combatants.
