Matay is a goddess associated with death, tragedy, and suicide. She has few devout followers, but her reputation as spread wide, and she is the patron goddess of the suffering in several cultures. In others, she is seen as a demon who lures the living to their demise by promising to take their sadness away.
Tenets of Faith
Matay has no formal holy book or decrees on how to best serve the suffering. Her devout tend to roam, tending to those who are suffering - either physically, or emotionally.
Of the different sects that serve Matay, in almost all it is a cardinal sin to cause undue suffering. Many follow a life of pacifism, while others seek to reduce the suffering in the world by removing evil.
