Rdehn's Tears

Rdehn's Tears are magical artifacts that appear as small thumb sized gemstones that flicker with an inner light. They are highly sought after magical items thanks to their properties that aid in resurrection magic - even a novice with little magical experience can utilize them to save the recently deceased.   Less than thirty are believed to exist, and an unknown number have been destroyed or used beyond repair.

Legend of Rdehn

Rdehn's Tears are named after a minor god, Rdehn. It is said that they decided to live among mortals for a time on a whim, and fell in love with a beautiful man. Tales tend to vary, but in all of them Rdehn's lover dies - in some, it is old age, and in others killed by bandits or some other danger. So distraught at their lover's death, Rdehn sobbed over his corpse.   Rdehn was unable to bring their lover back to life, but as they cried, the tears that fell from their eyes crystallized into small gemstones. This grief only grew more potent as time went on, and decades later, the gemstones resurrective properties were first discovered. Since that day, mortals across the world have hunted for them, tracking their history through the years in hope of finding them.   The site where the legend supposedly takes place is located in modern day Zabria, and is said to have taken place roughly two hundred years ago.

Spellcasting Focus

Legendary Evocation

Rdehn's Tear can be used as a spellcasting focus by any creature capable of casting the Cure Wounds spell. When used in this way, it amplifies the resurrective powers of the spellcaster significantly.   When used as a spellcasting focus, the user can cast Revivify as a first level spell, Raise Dead as a third level spell, Resurrection as a fifth level spell, and True Resurrection as a seventh level spell. In each case, no material components are required.   Using the gemstone to cast spells in this way severely damages it, and it can only be used in this manner a single time. Afterward, it can still be used as a normal spellcasting focus.
