Zabria

Zabria is a poor region with wide open plains, poor soil, and access to relatively few resources. It lays just south of the Cradle, nestled between the two wealthy nations of Iccot and Xeblisau.

Zabrian Steel

It is well known for being the source of some of the purest iron available. Few things are forged in Zabria, and the majority of this wealth is exported out of the nation, leaving its people without much benefit from their unique resource.

Structure

There are few meaningful governmental organizations in Zabria. Some cities collects taxes from nearby population, though many claim this is closer to extortion than governance.

Agriculture & Industry

The soil of Zabria is unfortunately very poor, and does not grow most crops particularly well. Though farming is still widespread, it yields only marginally more than enough to subsist off of.   Zabria's industry primarily relies on the sale of chasalt and iron, and taxes on traders traveling through the country towards Xeblisau. The larger veins of chasalt tend to contain extremely pure iron deposits that make for excellent quality iron, and the chasalt itself is a valuable mineral used in alchemy.

Slave Trade

The nation's relative poverty has had major negative effects in recent years. While major trade routes are heavily patrolled, smaller towns and remote regions have seen a boom in slavery and indentured servitude. Those who are unable to defend themselves remain constantly worried about criminals abducting and selling them into slavery in seedy Iccotian markets.   Slaves are sometimes traded to Calashi'din Vorpakk as well, though they choose only to buy those who were 'legally' pressed into servitude. Zabrian bounty hunters occasionally hunt kidnappers and sell them to the Calashi in turn. The Calashi also purchase those convicted of less physical crimes such as fraud and tax evasion.   When leaders in Zabria failed to make meaningful laws banning slave trade, Xeblisau ceased trade with the nation as a whole, depriving them of the cheap food that Xeblisau had in excess.
