Tiegalaan (Tee-gah-lahn)

The song! The song! Sing with me, we are the notes of the song!
— Tiegalaan worshipper, sobbing with joy on the gallows, 3723 EC
Tiegalaan is a god associated with madness, knowledge, and disease.   He introduced numerous illnesses into the world in an attempt to share divine knowledge with mortals. The knowledge was too much for his chosen to handle, and their bodies began to decay as did their minds. Tiegalaan has tried to share divine understanding on several occasions, leading to the existence of several incredibly powerful and dangerous artifacts.   Tiegalaan has attracted a loyal cult lead by those who have been driven mad by his artifacts. His sister, Curatsvo, seeks to undo the damage he has done and cure the diseases he unleashed.

Holy Books & Codes

Tiegalaan's holy books are a complex topic. There are several artifacts that are said to have been gifted to mortals by Tiegalaan, and bestow divine knowledge upon any who touch them. Unfortunately, to touch such an artifact invariably drives mortals to madness. Their accounts of what they saw are at best incoherent ramblings, and at worse complete gibberish.   There exist several bound tomes of these ramblings, which seem to hold some meaning to worshippers of Tiegalaan. His worshippers tend to give them freely to whoever shows interest.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

There are many symbols of Tiegalaan, most being seemingly random arrays of lines, scribbles, and abstract shapes. The most frequently recurring of them are depictions of the artifacts that Tiegalaan gave to mortals. A sphere made of nothingness, a rod of green, and a chain of stars linked at both ends, tied in knots.   There are also recurring topics, themes, and references that are spoken of with various types of awe by those affected by Tiegalaan's artifacts.

The Song

References to 'the song' recur frequently as something a person, object, or concept can be a part of. Musical structure references are common, even among those who were never educated in music before hand.

The Herald(s)

There are an unknown number of persons known as "The Herald" or "The Heralds", who have either already arrived, or are going to in the near future. Worshippers of Tiegalaan speak of the Heralds with reverence and joy, and often try to convert others by promising to introduce them to the Heralds. Some scholars believe that the Heralds can only be perceived by those under the effect of Tiegalaan's artifacts, while others believe they are just another shared psychosis.

Social

Contacts & Relations

Few nations approve of the worship of Tiegalaan due to the extreme unpredictability of his worshippers, and the speed at which their numbers can grow if they ever get their hands on one of their holy artifacts. In some historical accounts, entire cities have been lost to madness in only a few weeks. Some nations are strict enough to enforce a kill on sight approach.   Though Curatsvo is dedicated to undoing the damage her brother has done, she seems to bear no ill will to his original goals of sharing divine knowledge, and simply works to cure the illnesses that result from it.
