Zaberon, The Beheaded Betrayer attacked Vitaria, Empire Goddess of Life and started the era of Betrayal and Calamity.
The past, present and future of the world.
Before the Betrayal changed the world every god was on the earth and controlled a portion of the world. Wonders of magic were commonplace and there was no limit to what could be done by the Gods.
Zaberon, The Beheaded Betrayer attacked Vitaria, Empire Goddess of Life and started the era of Betrayal and Calamity.
The Era that started with the Schism, and includes the Cataclysm Wars, and ends with the founding of the Empire and restoration of Order.
After the horrible battles of The Great Betrayal, the Gods created the The Divine Seal, to prevent such disasterous wars from happening again, and risk the destruction of the The Material Plane.
With the establishment of the Divine Seal, the Elven Gods could no longer remain on Ulathian. For a year, they discussed with the elves about the best way to structure their society, and on their departure, the Elven Republic was formed. Its goals would be the safeguarding of elvenking, and the continued cultivation of elven minds.
Beginning with Angeldeath, this period is marked by the domination of the material planes by Demons and their worshippers, with the Mortals beign scoured from the lands, cut down, and forced to live in small mobine tribes, as they tried to safeguard their existence.
Astaroth, the Undying King, ascended to god-like power, but unaffected by the Divine Seal. With his powers over Undeath and mastery of Necromacy, he would bring the world to a new era of war and death, initiating the Calamity War.
With the Ascention of Astaroth, came the greatest invasion of the material plane since The Holy Crusade. As demonic armies flooded the material plane, the Godsonly hope was to tighten the Divine Seal, and hope that the Mortals survived the coming onslaught. With the tightening of the seal, all angels on the material plane immediatelly dissapeared, and many divine connections severed, earning the war the name of AngelDeath.
The massive dwarven fortress-city of Karak Drotha was laid to waste by an unknown force or forces, and the once prosperous bastion lay in ruins until it was later reclaimed by the Fellfinders.
With the events of The Schism, and later AngelDeath, the mortal races inhabiting the world quickly realised that they would have to adapt and invent in order to create the arms and armor to defend themselves with. For a time, humans were only able to find wooden and stone tools, and whatever divine artifacts they could scrounge, to defend themselves, which led to utter devastation against the beings of chaos and evil that attacked them. While the scattered remains of the mortal races were being purged by the demonic invaders, the infighting between the invaders would allow time for the first Bloomeries to be created.
The invention of Bloomeries took place around 31 B.F. , and is widely regarded by historians to be what turned the tide, and allowed for the founding of the Empire. As the bloomeries became more advanced, and techniques evolved, men and women were able to be armed with sturdy iron weapons and armor, that they used to great effect to take back their land. While Gondor Lionell was armed with divine weapons and armor, the armies of the First Crusade were fed by iron and charcoal.
The stage of the world after the Calamity has ended and the stage where the world is in right now.
The Empire was founded by Gondor Lionel, The Omnipaladin, in Exelnar, ushering a new era of Order, for the citizens of Tolhera.
Most recently, the invention of the Blast Furnace has shocked the world, and increased potential production of metals exponentially. While bloomeries were slow and could not fully melt metal, with bars having to be imported from the dwarves, Blast Furnaces can run continually for years, and while fuel and ore is shoveled in, keep producing molten metals with unrivaled efficiency. While their adoption has been slow, and mired in political turmoil, they are steadilly expanding, and being refined. This is heralded by some as the end of dwarven hegemony over metallurgy, allowing even alloys such as steel to be produced cheaply, but many are not so certain. One thing is for sure, if this continues unimpeded, the industry of the Empire will explode in the coming century.
