Gunsmith

Firstly, not anyone who creates a Firearms is a Gunsmith, at least not really. Gunsmiths are a very specific, and often times very peculiar group of people - each one a master engineer in their own right. Most gunsmiths would be able to sell the weapons they create for thousands of suns a piece, yet the number of those who create weapons for sale is incredibly small.
Instead, most create weapons for the pleasure of it, knowing that the technology is so bleeding edge that even a small new discovery makes them a pioneer in their field. Most of the worlds impressive gunsmiths make weapons either for themselves, or for very particular individuals who they consider to be 'worthy' of carrying one of their weapons. It is clear then that the average gunsmith holds the firearm on an almost spiritual level - something to be revered and then bestowed upon a worthy wielder, rather than a simple weapon.

Career

Qualifications

No particular set of qualifications are required to become a gunsmith, yet each one has to be an engineer of masterful skill, capable of designing intricate devices on a very small scale.

Payment & Reimbursement

Creating a weapon isn't really particularly expensive - the real value of a weapon comes in the level of sheer expertise required to properly create one. If a weapon of particular renown and power were to be sold, it could set the smith up for life.

Other Benefits

Gunsmiths are generally look at in one of two ways - legendary engineers capable of creating the worlds most powerful hand held weaponry, or madmen with a deathwish intent on blowing their own hands off.
