Skyline Hooks

Technology created and used in The Diamond barony as part of it's testing before implementation throughout Peridot. They were recently invented in the Diamond barony as handheld methods of transportation throughout the skyrails in the Diamond due to it's utilisation of magnetised trains, however, these have been deemed too dangerous for public use and is awaiting a safety check    Skyhooks are created by shaping three magnets into hook shapes utilising transmutation magic they are then set around a gear with a graphomancy pearl set in the centre of them in order to bring the hook to life and make it function when attached to a leather gauntlet for gripping, due to it's graphomantic 'living state' testiong has confirmed the hook works faster or slower based on coaxing and persuasion from the user.   Mechanics: A skyline hook allows a user to travel at 25ft per round on skylines (notably slower than the average person and far slower than the skyline trains as the hooks were meant for leisurely use) a user cannot use the dash action with skyhooks.    You can jump onto a skyline point using the magnets of your skyline hook to drag you up to 30ft to a skyline track.   On your turn, you can jump from your skyhook using a bonus action- jumping involves either:
  • switching direction (DC10 Athletics or acrobatics)
  • Jumping off of your skyline (DC8+1 for every 10 feet athletic or acrobatics) prone and fall damage on a fail
  • Jumping to a different skyline (you can jump up to 30ft from skyline to skyline) (DC13+2 for every 10 feet)
On a fail, you remain on your skyline, on a fail by more than 5, you fall from your skyline.   If you wish to travel faster on your turn you can attempt to 'coax' your skyhook at the beginning of your turn by roleplaying a way to make it go faster using a charisma skill check (advantage possible based on rp):
  • 0-5: The skyhook stops dead.
  • 6-10: no change
  • 11-15:now 30ft
  • 16-20: now 45ft
  • 21-25: Now 60ft
  • 26+ or crit: now 90ft
