Jyssald
When the first Sadromi capital fell to the initial goblin invasion, Dursaedhe and the other leaders of the new government moved their base of operations to Jyssald. Originally a trade hub given its rather centralized location in the country, Jyssald became the new capital -- and its province, Mazhel, the most populated. For millennia since, it has existed as a green and quasiglass jewel amid Sadrom's forests and mountains. The city itself is split into two rough halves, each situated on the top of mountains facing one another across a vast river gorge. At one end, a monstrous waterfall thunders down off the plateau to the north, while to the south the river snakes away through the widening valley.
Because of its distance from the southern border, Jyssald was considered to be a safe location to expand and establish a new capital. And for a long time, it was. Recently, however, the sylphs have suffered a disaster similar to the one that set them on their militaristic path in the first place. Through magical means -- and suspected outside interference -- the goblins tunneled up through the mountains and laid waste to the once proud city: collapsing buildings and sections of entire wards into their tunnels, and devouring anyone they could.
The incursion was successfully driven back, but much of Jyssald's population has since been displaced to other cities. The tunnels were routed and collapsed, preventing a repeat of the same attack, and now some of Sadrom's best architects, casters, and engineers have worked to not only rebuild the city, but sever the tops of the mountains where the city was built and suspend them in the sky. This strategy has been used in the past to lift other Sadromi cities, such as Ossald, and now the sylphs seek to prevent the same fate from befalling them once more. Eventually, hopes are to repeat the process with all sylphen settlements -- but such an undertaking will take hundreds if not thousands of years and innumerable resources and man hours.
