Lord Cain Highwind

Drumming his fingers on his throne, Lord Cain considered the situation. With Leandre dead and Cirran still not ready, he was forced to take his former seat once more. His people mourned the death of Leandre, and while he wished nothing more than to share in their grief, he knew he must answer his duties. Now that the Midnight Hordes are encroaching the lands beyond the north, he hoped the Midland and Wildland sovereigns would listen to the envoys he sent, though he had no doubt Heavensfall had changed much of Muria beyond Arcreach. Ephraim had fallen silent, its strange emissaries absent from the gathering several weeks ago. He had also heard that the Sable Kingdom remained closed to visitors, its wards staunchly preventing entry; and from what he had heard from his scouts, the city sounded empty too. The Dwarves in the King's Chasm had at least been amenable, but even they were wary of the situation - understandably so. Cain admired the resilience of the other lords beyond his domain, but with the increasing tenacity of the nights it was only time before they fell.
Gazing out the window, Cain thought to better times; to his son's coronation, where hope and determination replaced the grim outlook that now permeates the city. He had been looking forward to his retirement, but it seemed that the world was not quite done with him yet. And in the name of House Highwind, he would protect his city with his life.

He learned a great deal from the adventurers, scholars and rulers of his time, and has over the course of his life become an incredibly wise man.

Head of house Highwind, leader of the Circle of Ten and acting ruler of Arcreach, Lord Cain has served the city for a great length of his life - easily stretching beyond the fall of the Midnight Star. His titles are numerous, as are his deeds; his oldest enemies fear him, and his greatest allies praise him. Yet in this day and age, where even his allies and enemies have fallen to the Midnight Star, his age has begun to seemingly wear him down. The loss of his firstborn son and previous ruler of Arcreach, Leandre, weighs heavily upon Lord Cain's mind. Though he sits the throne as Arcreach's temporary ruler, he longs for peace of mind away from the royal court.
