Calendar of Naneth
The Calendar of Naneth, also known as the "Atmora Register", was the twelve month phase of how the countries and people of Naneth recorded time. This calendar was originally created during the Age of Fire, but was lost to the long years of the Age of Mists. Upon the dawn of the Age of Renewal, the calendar was reinstated as the "Atmora Register", and began to track the seasons once more. This calendar is used and recognized by all countries on Naneth, save for The Quaan Empire.
Months
Talyeh's Dawn: The first month of the year, Talyeh's Dawn is named for Naneth's first moon, and the season of which it begins to peak in the night sky. This month is typically one of the coldest months, beginning in the dead of winter. The Celebration of Renewal in Atmora takes place at the beginning of Talyeh's Dawn. Frostmarch: The second month of the twelve year calendar, Frostmarch signifies the seemingly endless continuation of winter, as the cold season enters into it's fourth month. Greenrise: The third month in the year, Greenrise signifies the beginning of spring, and the end to winter's cold grasp. Near the end of this month, plants in the northern reaches of Naneth begin to grow once more, reacting to the sun's life-giving warmth. Eldath's Flourish: The fourth month of the Atmora Register, Eldath's Flourish is the true beginning of nature's rebirth under the warmer season's sunlight. Spring has bloomed in full, and nature has rebounded from the dormant months of winter. In Meridian, this month carries the Festival of Life, a joyous celebration of The Eres, and the world they've created. Sunseed: The fifth month of the year, Sunseed is known for it's warm and lengthy days of sunlight. This month is popular among the farmers of Naneth, particularly the ones living in northern regions of the world, as they can finally get into the routine of daily farm work. Midmoon: The sixth month and halfway point of the year in Naneth's Calendar. Midmoon signifies the mid-point of the year, and the mid-point between seasons. During this month, Talyeh; Naneth's first moon, passes out of view, until next Talyeh's Dawn. Taking it's place in the night sky; Vespura, Naneth's second moon. In Astora, the beautiful weather of Midmoon makes it the opportune time to host The Great Games, a showcase of high level sports and events. Sune's Kiss: The seventh and warmest month of the year. Sune's Kiss brings warm temperatures to every region of Naneth, barring the far northern regions. In Meridian, the climate becomes even more tropical and warm, making it the opportune time for visitors to the area. In fact, every Sune's Kiss, Meridian host their annual Masquerade, an event that the most wealthy of Naneth's inhabitants dare not miss. Sun's Song: The eighth month of the Atmoran calendar, Sun's Song signifies that Naneth has entered the longest days of summer and has drawn ever-closer to autumn. In the furthest southern regions, night lasts for a couple hours less, leading to long days of sunlight. Redfall: The ninth month of the year, Redfall describes this portion of the calendar perfectly. The warmest days of summer have finally passed, and the nature upon Naneth is beginning to show the first signs of colder temperatures. Creatures have begun growing winter furs and collections of food, while the mighty forests of the world begin to show colours of orange, yellow and red within their branches. In Astora, The Festival of Mending begins within the month of Redfall. It is a time for humans and elves to reconnect, and banish the ill-feelings of past wars, uniting together under one nation. Nightcrest: The 10th month of the Naneth calendar, Nightcrest signifies the total end of the warm, summer months. Nights have once again grown in length, cutting down daylight as much as a few hours in the northern regions of the world. The air has grown quite cold by Nightcrest, signifying to farmers that the crop must be harvested, lest they lose it to the oncoming frost. Snowbirth: The 11th and second to last month of the year, Snowbirth signifies exactly what the name implies. Most of Naneth, save Meridian and Chult, has grown cold enough for snow to begin falling. By the end of Snowbirth, Atmora, Astora, and regions further north, will likely be covered in frost. In Atmora, this month heralds the annual Festival of Bloodletting. This is a time for Atmora to pay tribute to their god; Torm, which usually contains the sacrificing of animals, or the pledging of life services to the military. Vespura's Eve: The final month of the Atmora Register, Vespura's Eve is named after Naneth's second moon, and the last nights it's visible under the night sky, before passing out of vie, giving way once more to Telyah. During this final month, Naneth's climate is quite frigid, and has most inhabitants looking forward to the new year, to the warmer months once again.Days of the Week
Naneth's Calendar features a seven day week, and a four week month, with each month totaling 28 days. During the Age of Fire, they days of the week were recounted in Elvish, as follows: Orithil, Orgalahad, Ormenel, Oraearon, Rodyn, Orgilion, Oranor.
