Order of the High Blue

"The Dragon-folk of that order live and die by the tenets. There's no use in arguing with them once their eyes are set and claws sunk. The Thunder Scales do not easily fail their lord." - Marius Daweden, Astoran Offical, speaking on the ferocity of the Order of the High Blue.   The Order of the High Blue is an order made up of only Dragonborn, and primarily blue or silver variants at that. "The Thunder Scales", as they're often referred, are a collection of Paladins and Clerics, each of them serving for the eternal glory of their lord; Bahamut. The High Blue is a sub-branch of the Order of the Loyal Fury, additionally making their home in a special branch of the The Emery Sanctum in Vinguard.

Organization

Formation
The Order of the High Blue was founded several years after the establishment of Astora, though long before the establishment of Vinguard and even the Emery Sanctum. For years, Dragonborn of the Royal and Vilmyr ranges had been gathering together in the caverns and caves of the northern mountains, looking to worship and honour their lord; Bahamut. With Bahamut's domain's featuring life, courage and war, the early adopters of the his teachings looked to peruse the countryside, keeping the areas around settlements safe from evil. The majority of these early Dragonborn remained of the blue and silver variety, which is the type primarily found in northern Astora.   In AoR 412, the Order of the High Blue is officially recognized as an Astoran Guild. It would soon join with the Order of the Loyal Fury, a paladin order serving Torm, furthering the historic kinship between Torm and his Dragon ally.
Ideology
In the early days of the order, specific members of the group would travel to the summit of Mount Beacon, where they would listen and pray for the teachings of Bahamut. They would receive his words as a roaring gale in the high winds, then would put them into action. His words were often spoke in riddles and enigmas, though the listeners would try their best to translate. This was how the 6 Tenets of the High Blue were written.   The 6 Tenets   Composure Is My Shield: My deeds are my armor, and I am not easily provoked. If anyone shall insult me, I shall laugh at their ignorance. If anyone shall insult my companions, I shall show them their error.   Crush the Abomination: Twisted creatures from beyond the world have no place in it. Aberrations and Fiends will feel my blade and know death.   Decisiveness in Battle: When the time for words has passed, I will strike first to bring a swift end to my enemies.   Duty Above All: Though I drink with the gods and laugh with the warriors of old, I will stand my watch. I will defend my nation. I will defend my companions.   Humility in Life: I am the Thunder’s servant, not it’s master. I will live without excess, assured in my own strength without ostentation. Charity and courage are twins.   Voice Like Thunder: My voice rings clear and true in defence of those who can’t speak out for themselves. I will speak the truth, because such words echo through the ages. The words of the North Wind spill from my mouth and I will act on them.
Activities
The Order of the High Blue looks to protect and uphold the teachings of The North Wind, while travelling the roads and wilds of Astora. Whenever evil is uncovered the Thunder Scales are sure to respond. Bahamut despised evil and all those that partook in it, whether they be humans or monsters. Members of the Hugh Blue can often be found searching for bandits and other criminals, while also keeping an eye out for monsters to banish back to The Void.   For each successful mission, a Thunder Scale would receive a single gold ring, which would subsequently be attached to their body as either a piercing or otherwise. It is said that the most legendary of the Thunder Scales sound of a continuous crack of lightning when charging into battle, the result of their many achievements clanging together. Although quite intimidating, this does make stealthier operations quite troublesome.

Notable Members

  • Aarus Narmash: The current leader of the Thunder Scales, Aarus is a red dragonborn from Atmora. Aarus was already a high ranking member of the Order of the Loyal Fury before transferring to the High Blue. Aarus made the long journey from The Teeth to take the vacant leadership position.

  • Donaar Farskaal: The previous leader of the Thunder Scales, Donaar has now quietly stepped away from the role. He has grown quite old for lengthy adventures and monster hunts. Now the legendary paladin is satisfied just to watch his son, Arrdaak, follow in his footsteps. Recently it was discovered by Headmaster Narmesh that Donaar had acted in cowardice during one of his early missions in Atmora.
