The Uhara Sanctum
The Uhara Sanctum, previously named the Grand Temple of Aramoor during the Age of Fire (renamed Uhara Sanctum in AoR 274), was a massive temple complex located in Aramoor. It served as the main headquarters for the Atmora branch of the premier paladin guild in Naneth; The Order of the Loyal Fury. The building itself was imposing and vast, located deep within the heart of Aramoor's Silver District.
Structure
Exterior
One of the oldest buildings in Atmora, the Uhara Sanctum is a massive complex made mostly of dark and weathered stone. Atmora's extreme climate and the centuries of time within the mists have taken their toll on the integrity of the building itself, with many sectors having been rebuilt over the years. The walls of the complex themselves are bricked rock, making attempts to climb quite difficult. The main building itself is over 50ft tall, with the roof peaks and towers rising even higher. Set into the walls are many barred windows, though lots have been boarded from the inside in an attempt to keep wind, rain and snow from entering. Surrounding the building proper, is a large wall, stretching up to 30ft tall in some sections. Even taller guard towers stand at the main corners of the perimeter, giving a full view of the city streets and alleys. Two main gates stand situated on the walls, equipped with heavy iron doors. When these doors are sealed, the grounds to the Sanctum are almost impossible to enter. In addition to the stone walls, many protective wards have been placed over the building, ancient and recent spells casted by the most powerful magic users in Atmora. A fair sized courtyard also existed within the perimeter walls, likely constructed during the building's days as a public place of worship.Interior
While the outside of the Sanctum seemed weathered and ancient, the interior was a different story altogether. Though still aged, the grand halls, cathedral and armory had been restored beautifully throughout the years. Connected to the main entrance, the grand hall was lined with massive golden pillars, each of them decorated in carved mosaics depicting Torm in various states of peace and battle. From this room, many archways and doors led off into other areas of the building. Perhaps even more impressive was the cathedral. It was the very same room that had been used centuries earlier as a place of worship, though now it stood in reverence only to the Loyal Fury himself. A towering statue of Torm dominates the front of this room, built from obsidian rock and detailed with gold. The statues also hides evidence of the past, now empty shrines where other deities had been worshiped before. With the Uhara Sanctum thought to be the most secure location in Aramoor, the building was entrusted with the records, tomes, and histories of Atmora. As such, the Sanctum now houses a vast library, certainly the largest in Aramoor and likely Atmora itself. The library here is protected at all times by keepers, historians and even guards from the Atmoran government, making it the only non-Order centered service in the complex. The rest of the building consisted of private chambers, quiet studies, training rooms, armories and workshops for repairing weapons and armor. All of these amenities were provided free of charge to members of the Order. Additionally, the Uhara Sanctum has always housed the Sentinel of the Order, giving them a spacious living quarters and office from which to lead their fellow paladin.History
Construction of the Cathedral; The War of Fire
At some point in the early years of the Age of Fire, the Uhara Sanctum was constructed in Aramoor. Known then as merely the Grand Cathedral of Aramoor, it was a haven of worship, housing shrines and statues to all of the different Eres, even those usually worshipped by elves or dwarves. In AoF 561, the populace of Aramoor has now begun to pushback against the dragon overlords, and would often use the fireproof stone cathedral as an assembly point or refuge. It was a building more easily held than most against dragon-fire, though that did not stop the beasts from blackening the walls with scorch marks and ash. In fact, It is said that the plan to reclaim their homeland was hatched and improved by The Alliance within the very walls of the Sanctum.Reclamation of Aramoor; Founding of the Order
At the end of the Age of Fire, Naneth had been plunged into a magical and poisonous mist. It killed all within reach, claiming the lives of all left within Aramoor and the Sanctum. For two thousand years the Sanctum would stand abandoned, as did the rest of the city. Upon the end of the Age of Mists, life returned to Naneth. The humans of Aramoor returned, finding a large stone cathedral still standing where their ancestors had long ago built it. Yet for years it continued to stand empty, used for storage space and shelter while Aramoor was being rebuilt. However by AoR 274, King Warmaw I would establish the building as the home for a newly formed order of paladins, the Order of the Loyal Fury. Now officially named the Uhara Sanctum, the building would serve as the home-base for all paladin operations in Atmora. By AoR 600, the Uhara Sanctum continues to stand firm, still providing shelter and service to paladins now spread across the entirety of Naneth.
