"The Warrior and Wain have served many a last drink to these passing soldiers, most of them destined for the southern border you see. Not many safe postings down there and many of these boys won't be coming back." - Nigel Houten, Stablehand at the Warrior and Wain
The Warrior and Wain is an establishment with two large taverns found in central
Astora, just south of the
Pointcrest Plateau. The establishment lays on a crossroad and frequently serves as a resting stop for those bound for Atmora's southern border and its settlements. The fields surrounding the two buildings are presented as a staging area for passing military companies and have enough room for several hundred tents and scores of supplies.
History
Founding
The Warrior and Wain was founded in AoR 358 as a singular tavern and stable. It became a popular rest stop for southbound travellers and a drinking hole for the local farmhands. By AoR 518, a second tavern had been built, and the grounds around the complex cleared for military encampment.
In AoR 519,
King Vernax III Warmaw visited during his Atmora-wide tour and stayed the night in the new tavern. King Vernax spoke highly of the establishment, likening the new penthouse room to several lower-tier rooms at
The Crown.
Inquisition Activity
The Warrior and Wain acted as a staging area for an Inquisition operation in late AoR 601. An Inquisition company had discovered the existence of a nearby goblin den. Within the caverns were found dozens of kidnapped, primarily human, slaves. The company would quickly dispatch the creatures and liberate the captured. Most of the captured humans returned to the Warrior and Wain, awaiting loved ones and making travel plans.
