According to a well-established theory, the original changelings were born when doppelgangers mated with other species, adopting their physical traits. The exact timeframe of this phenomenon remains uncertain, but many ancient historical texts contain portrayals of shape-shifting creatures.
In recent history, numerous reports tell of encounters with various creatures possessing the ability to transform their appearances. Due to fears of potential espionage and sabotage, these shape-shifters were relentlessly hunted down and killed.
