General Description
One of the larger islands that make up the Yuancol Isles, Mysthaven is a strange tropical island with a twisted history. Reptillian themes feature heavily throughout the stonework here and several old temples exist close to the center of the island.
Terrain & Layout
The coastline is littered with collections of cliffs, caves and smaller islands, many of which have been built upon or engraved into to fit the general aesthetic. Stonework pathways lead from the shore to further inland to the sites of old towers and temples built thousands of years ago and they all connect with each other at various forks.
There is a thick forest in the middle of the island around the aforementioned structures, shielding them from view. Thick humid air hangs around the island and especially the trees with the conditions below the canopy, usually stifling and sweaty. Immense fog is known to collect around here frequently, reducing visibility to a few feet, travel is not advised in these conditions and it is best to wait for it to clear.
History & Legends
The structures on this island and the others in the area are long theorized to have been built and lived in by the Yuan-Ti, a race of reptilian humanoids that became extinct millennia ago. It is documented that these temples, towers and walls were all built by slave labour and it is thought that thousands of slaves perished building these enormous designs.
There are several stories of treasure hunters going missing in the fog-laden jungles, falling prey to traps in the temples or being eaten by savage giant lizards on the island.
