Ownership

Owned and managed by Ekram Ephram, the Entertainment Emporium is a labor of love for the shrewd and beloved businessman. While profit is of course the aim of any of Ephram's ventures, this one in particular he would run even at a loss, so dear to his heart it is.

The Enlightened Few, the guild of mages that rules Pluthem, have outlawed excessive debauchery, but have granted Ekram a special license to operate his establishment due to both the economic and morale boosting properties of the services rendered within the walls of the Emporium.

Services

The Emporium boasts a wide array of services designed to cater to every taste, desire and whim. The ground floor houses a bustling tavern, where patrons can enjoy hearty meals and fine ales while listening to live music from some of the best bards and performers on the face of Nascindor. Even the famed Tabitha Roux has performed at the Emporium many a time, a fact that is widely used in the advertising of the establishment.

The gambling floors are abustle with patrons looking to fatten their coin purses or just placing bets for the thrill of the gamble. Aside from the banks that operate across the city-states, the Emporium's casino sees the most amount of money flowing through it in a day, with small fortunes changing hands with each excited exclamation indicating a big win.

For those seeking more intimate entertainment, the brothel section of the Emporium, located at the top floors, is renowned for its discretion and the quality of its courtesans. Each courtesan is chosen not only for their beauty but also for their ability to provide engaging conversation and companionship, ensuring that even customers who seek human connection rather than carnal pleasure are satisfied.

Ekram prides himself on the treatment of his employees, which is why the courtesans who work at his establishment are paid more than a fair wage on top of being given a cut from the fees set by the Emporium for their services. There are also armed guards posted at the Emporium who will remove anyone found harassing the employees in any way, and any such harassment of the staff will net the perpetrator a lifetime ban to the Emporium.

Disaster and sabotage

Since its founding in the 14th year of the Resounding Era, the Entertainment Emporium has been tested both by Nascindor itself as well as opinionated vandalism. Anomalous sandstorms blowing in from the neighboring Varlem Desert have sanded the walls many a time, and once this led to an infestation of some sort of vermin of living sand carried by those fell winds that proved supremely difficult to exterminate, and the establishment had to be closed down for several months.

In addition to this, the more puritan groups of Pluthem, those whose opinion swayed the Enlightened Few to decree the anti-debauchery laws in the first place, have vandalized the Emporium on several occasions, with the latest incident involving the message "Perversion does not belong in Pluthem!" being plastered across the front-facing wall of the building in bright red paint.

Despite these setbacks and public relations issues, Ekram Ephram remains confident that the larger populace accepts the Emporium and the joy it can provide, and judging by the amount of daily visitors and the ever increasing profits, it would seem he is right.
