The Witherwaters
The Witherwaters are a corrupted area of the The Lowing Passage and The Brinebell Sea. They formed during the The Second Great Turbulence.
These waters are extremely dangerous to sail on, due to the prevalence of undead creatures (often corruptions of natural sea life), ghosts, and other similar beings. Few who try to cross them return, and those who do, return rapidly with terrible stories. As a result, little is known of the Witherwaters and their depths. But that doesn't stop impatient merchants trying to cross them for a quicker passage, or treasure hunters eagerly seeking shipwrecks on their floors.
Origin.
Many druidic communities believe that areas like The Witherwaters formed as a result of the gods greedily taking advantage of the great turbulences to drain energies from the earth. Religious communities reject this idea, and put the Witherwaters' origin down a huge rift to the Shadowfell forming on the sea floor, or some terrible undead spirit waking during the second great turbulence.
