History

The Order of Festius was formed in the aftermath of the Battle of the Abyssal Edge at the end of the first War of the Fiend after the Paladin Gaius Festius jumped into from the largest cliff overlooking the Abyssal Scar and plunged his great sword into the dark heart of the archdemon leading the assault into the world plunging them both into the very bottom of the abyss but ending the war.  With the scar still very much open the companions of Festius created an order to be named after their fallen friend and immediately started petitioning the lords of various kingdoms to contribute to the future defence of the world against evil, however only the already battered Kingdom of Altscar was willing to give them vassalage around of the area around the scar.
