Bellum Familia
The Bellum familia is a criminal organization that operates from the shadows giving services and protection in exchange for a fee. They are a ruthless band that inspires fear in the hearts of some people of the hells and respect in others.
Structure
The familia is organized in a hierarchical structure that goes as follows:
- Don. The leader of the familia that guides the organization.
- Consigliere. A couselor of the boss that guides his decisions.
- Underbosses. Three men that work under the bosses order and lead the branches of the familia.
- Caporegimes. Squad leaders that work for the underbosses.
- Soldiers. The lowest ranking members who work in squads commanded by a caporegime.
Culture
People fear and respect the Bellum familia in equal amounts. They are ruthless when it comes to debts, but keep the people that pay their dues protected from outsiders and thugs.
History
The familia was founded during the times of the Magna Bellis in the material plane. It arose from the necessity of the people of Malbolge for protection against thugs and low-lifes.
The familia had dealings with high-rank devils that allowed them to act of their own accord as long as they didn't cross certain thresholds. The familia slowly became more prominent and rose to power after the fifth leader Vitorio got his position as Don.
The familia got into trouble with a balor from the red district for giving shelter into their midst to an escapee daughter of a one of his workers. The fiend threatened to attack the familia's headquarters if the girl wasn't returned. However, sticking to the organization's core rules, Vitorio refused to leave one of their own to their own fate.
The battle took place and the girl was protected, but the familia was left in shambles and the surviving members went into hiding. They still operate from the shadows in a subtle way.
