The great civilization of Linaris, as well as intelligent life as a whole were wiped from the face of Neoria by the gods angered by the mortals' defiance.

A wizard of great power known as Gúl'aran grew tired of the gods quarrels that had devastated the land. He began plotting behind their backs and created a set of artifacts with power so inmense as to cut a whole through the fabric of reality. These artifacts were known as the echoes of defiance and were the first step on the wizard's plan.

He then ascended to lichdom and harvested the life essence of the primordial titan's corpses that laid scattered across the lands. He amassed a group of followers that seeked to overthrow the gods while seeking the corpses.

Nevertheless, the gods caught on to the wizards plan. Enraged after their own great war, the gods erased all life from the surface of Neoria and decided to start life anew. The Undead Liberator, as Gúl'Aran became known, was not going to go down easy however. He liberated his spell that, though lacking in power, was able to erase one of the gods from existence, The Martyred Master, Cálagon.
