Desecration Decay

Desecration Decay is a mental illness caused by contact with the undead forces that were fought during the desecration.

Transmission & Vectors

The only currently known way to get Desecration Decay is to have fought the undead during The Desecration. There could be other means of getting the illness but not enough time or research has been put into it.

Causes

Desecration Decay was identified after the first big conflict with the undead waves. The illness has become more and more common for anyone who has had to fight the undead for any length of time, especially if they have witnessed friends or family perishing in those battles. Little else is known about it.

Symptoms

Common symptoms manifest as:

Remembering The Desecration Having a nightmare about The Desecration Reliving battles during The Desecration Avoiding places that remind you of The Desecration Thinking little of yourself or not trusting others Hopelessness Memory problems Challenges with close relationships Unable to connect with loved ones Apathy for activities you enjoyed prior Unable to feel happiness or joy Unable to feel emotions Easily frightened Feeling the need to be "on watch" at all times Increase in unhealthy behaviors such as: drinking too much, picking fights, not wearing protective gear, etc... Trouble sleeping Trouble concentrating Easily aggravated or having outbursts Survivors guilt

Treatment

Due to the Desecration Decay being a newly identified illness there is little to no treatment for it but medical professionals across Netrosis are finding technological, spiritual or magical means of treating the illness.

First known cases started shortly after The Desecration.

Cultural Reception

Although little is known about the illness every culture is working on a way to cure it. This has caused most people to at least understand when someone has a DD episode if not outright show them incredible amounts of respect and praise.
