Leaders of the Free Energy Resistance

Technically labeled a “terrorist organization” by the United Nations, the Leaders of the Free Energy Resistance formed subsequent to disciplinary hearings on the burning of Waco in 2059.   The hearings continued for seven years without a meaningful conviction of senior IERA officials.     In late 2066, internal strife over the decisions that led to the “Waco debacle” caused the departure of several high-level officials. Though unconfirmed, it is rumored that the LFER was formed, in part, by those who departed the IERA.

Mission

The LFER believe the actions of the IERA have gone too far, invading the privacy of individuals, communities, and other organizations through their energy monitoring regime. They also strictly disavow the IERA’s practice of ‘darkening’ cities and villages who do not comply with their requirements. Even without the extreme loss of life experienced in Waco, the poverty and humanitarian crises caused by ‘Darkenings’ has been catastrophic — far worse than the vanishings, they believe.   SPOILER REMAINING TO BE REVEALED.

Governance

The LFER is a network of ‘cells’ operating independently across the world. They have a council that meets weekly, where each LFER cell has one representative. There is a ‘code of conduct’ ascribed to by all members. Though independent, the LFER has at times collectively voted to excommunicate a cell due to egregious violations of ‘the code’. The NYC Blackout of 2071 was the cause of the NYC LFER cell’s excommunication which was publicly announced by the LFER council — after the NYC cell claimed responsibility for the ‘revolution’.

Tone

The LFER has much more variability in each of its cells than the expected behavior of IERA agents/teams. They are not as well funded as the IERA, but also have greater autonomy. However, LFER operations carry the risk of capture and punishment by law enforcement.
