Grozav

Grozav was born to a Roma caravan in 1425. He lived among his people, for twenty four years, and he grew into a strong hunter, renowned for his skills. Much to his mother's angst, he never married. When he died, he did not go to his next great journey, but woke from death without reason or purpose.

On the darkest day of his mortal life, he did something he could not forgive himself for. It began just, but ended tragically. You see, Grozav once saw a sister-caravan shredded by a roaming patrol's archers, and killed the man who ordered it in a particularly bloody fashion. Strictly speaking though Grozav never laid a weapon to the bastard. The officer just couldn't handle the rigors of the road...that he was being dragged down. Grozav let the horse run all the way to the barracks, dragging the corpse behind it, and watched from afar. What Grozav didn't count on was that the officer's family lived near the barracks. The officer's son was who discovered the body, and the sound of the child's screams haunted Grozav's nightmares.

So he sought redemption from a Roma Elder, one who was hiding their nomadic Requiem via the Blush of Life, and was touched by Vampiric Blood Sorcery. The necromantic nature of vitae-fueled blood magic tainted Grozav's soul. When he died, later that week when he was found hunting by the same patrol under a new commander, he returned a Revenant. He rose ravenous from the ground, and frenzied. Grozav feasted on the blood of the forest's wildlife, and then tried to go home but his former caravan warded themselves against him, refusing to recognize him as Grozav. To them this was an unclean thing that corrupted Grozav's body.

Grozav could sense the one that made him, and the fury he felt rivaled that of his darkest day. He chased the caravan that had inadvertantly trapped his maker within their Wards night after night for almost a year. When the other Vampire could not take the relentless pursuit, she left the caravan with her husband. Her husband, an outsider who was also her Sire, was accustomed to running as a Vampire and they gained a significant lead but Grozav chased them. The caravan carried a story from that point that the forest was cursed and dangerous place.

The chase was monitored by an Ancient Akhud named Zarinaia who chose Grozav as a Childe. Grozav's sire Uplifted him to the Akhud because of Grozav's potential as a weapon. Then she trained Grozav toward speed and precision over brute power. Grozav served Zarinaia for fifty years, and she released him in 1510. Their relationship was far from one sided, and though she could be distant for years at a time, she helped him accomplish his own goals as well. Aside from his own goals Grozav maintains a strong sense of loyalty to Zarinaia, and to his vampiric family and Clan, and doesn't speak of what she had him do during those years of his service.
