Silver Lake

Silver Lake is a small town in Colorado. Well, it's not that small, but it isn't a city by any stretch. Situated in the plains of eastern Colorado about 2 hours from Denver, once you make it to the highways. If you can make it to the highways, that is. Seems like strange things conspire to stop people from leaving Silver Lake and almost no one intends to move here. Instead there seems to be some sort of coincidental force that just draws people in, and somehow there's always a place for them.

Silver Lake is an odd little town, its main families have been there since its founding and are widespread with deep roots, like the lake itself once was. The original settler families banded together in what became the longest running institution in town - The Communion of Silverlake.

When more settlers came in the 1850's Silver Lake was a contentious place. The founding families had been there a decade and had certain ideas of how things were supposed to be that clashed with the ideals of the westbound settlers. Nevertheless, after a hard winter, the settlers had done what they do and put down roots. The families eventually came to an agreement and the settlers were allowed to stay.

  • Communion originated in Silver Lake.
  • Silver Lake was settled in the 1850's, sources disagree on precise date.
  • Sources are from Werewolves who claim an earlier settling date and humans who arrived years later.
  • The People moved west to settle in a place closer to nature, and created Silver Lake.
  • The People settled there almost a decade before the Mortals arrived.
  • Mortals found the place and were allowed to stay so the People could adhere to the Oath.
  • It took about a year for the debate about whether to drive off the Mortals to be settled.
  • Werewolf population diminished.
  • Divided town led to fewer marriage options, led to fewer First Changes.
  • Attrition killed off younger, inexperienced Werewolves.
  • It was at this point Wolf-Blooded came into power within the Communion.
  • As Werewolf population diminished fewer family representatives attended Communion.
  • Suspicion and interrogation kept outsider Werewolves out of town.
  • Communion in modern day being a dying institution with few old-timers holding to tradition and most people dismissing it entirely.
  • The Wolf-Blood in charge of Communion is in charge because his family has no werewolves left.
  • Now that no family has werewolves, it is a question of how long can the remaining People defend their territories?
