Eschile Lowhy (eh-SHIL lau-HUI)

When her kind were cursed to become Doeson, many despaired at their new forms and perished from grief or led lives of misery. But Eschile embraced her new form and sought a different, lascivious livelihood than her peers. Though her efforts were at first ridiculed by her peers, they came to inspire others. Her generosity and the dedication to her craft is what ultimately led to the propagation and success of the Doeson race.

Pleasure House of the Doe Face

Whether by genius, inspiration, or pure luck, Eschile caught the attention of several wealthy individuals whose sexual tastes went clearly beyond normal. Word spread throughout the towns of Sunnyland-Aster of the Doe-Faced Paramour and people flocked to her residence in Fiule to see it for themselves. Eschile amassed a small fortune from admirers, suitors, and clients and used it to fund a brothel of the highest repute. Though the town objected, a personal visit from Eschile convinced the councilmembers otherwise.   Doeson of all sexes were enlisted at the House of the Doe Face and again people came from faraway lands to investigate the peculiar rumors of deer men and women with renowned skills in the sexual arts. Most crucial to the operation was Eschile's generosity: all profits went straight to her employees and their families.

Eschile's Legacy

Thirty years after the opening of the pleasure house in Fiule, many doeson families had the savings to buy property, cattle, and seed and start a life in Fiule. In town council meetings, Eschile was a force to be reckoned with and over the years, she whittled away at the staunch councilmembers until not one person dared vote against her.   At her passing in 630, the entire town of Fiule grieved for her and doeson came from all around Sunnyland-Aster for the funeral. A strange woman in a strange place, her work to empower and legitimize the doeson people resounded in echoes for centuries to come. Her one regret, as recorded in her now-published diaries, was her infertility which prevented her from motherhood all her life before and after the Curse.

A Terrible Curse

When the followers of the god Ailurory sought oneness with nature and the beings of the earth, they begged the aid of their god in fulfilling their plea. Ailurory complied and sought the help of the earthen powers lurking in the sinkholes of Sunnyland-Aster. When the powers complied however, it was in the form of a curse and the god and their followers became the Doeson: half-deer, half-human individuals.   Though other beastpeople had come to exist, namely the capuran and tauruson kin, the doeson perceived themselves as filthy, cursed creatures. Many took their own lives and those who didn't lived their days in regret and misery, shunned by all. Over many years, the doeson were accepted into society and became synonymous with the beastpeople races despite their unique origins. But the first hundred years of existence for the doeson was tumultuous at best marked by regret, persecution, and misery.
