Naiad
This subtype of nature spirit lives near and guard bodies of fresh water including lakes, streams, ponds, and springs. Because they require the presence of clean, natural water to thrive, they rarely stray far from their places of creation.
A common event that triggers the creation of a naiad is a drowning or near-drowning within a body of water. Despite this fact, Naiads tend to be gentle and nonviolent, except for when their sources of life become too polluted, in which case they turn bitter and vengeful.
