Item Types & Rarity

There are several levels of rarity across all items in NEXUS. Rarity often corresponds to performance and value, with higher rarities offering better overall stats and perks. Additionally, there are multiple item types as well which all have different positive and negative effects. Both items and gear have several types and levels of rarity which are dictated by both their value and attributes. However, an item’s rarity doesn't always correspond to its usefulness. Players should pay close attention to the different stats and perks of each item and not just how rare they are. Every item’s rarity can be easily differentiated with a distinct color and tag.

Item Rarities

Basic - White

Basic items are common and plentiful. Most items will be Basic, especially at lower levels. They offer straightforward stats and perks, but cannot have Mods attached to them. Many Consumables are Basic. The more players explore, the less Basic gear they will use.

Advanced - Green

Advanced items are generally more powerful and valuable than Basic items. These will have additional stat bonuses or perks attached to them. Advanced equipment will often have a single Mod slot.

Rare - Purple

Rare items are highly sought after and have great value. Rare gear are likely to be used by most endgame players as they will have multiple perks and stat bonuses that can lend to a character's build and play style. Rare gear will always have at least one Mod slot.

Epic - Orange

Epic items are extremely powerful and expensive. These will have perks that aren’t generally seen elsewhere, creating potent gameplay combinations. Extremely high-level players may be outfitted with a full set of Epic gear, each with multiple Mods.

Legendary - Iridescent

Legendary items are the rarest and most exotic objects in the world of NEXUS. Legendaries have unique perks and bonuses that will not be found on any other item allowing for the most extreme and distinctive playstyles. Each has a specific name associated with it which offers the same special perk across any instance of the item. Due to their power, only one Legendary weapon and armor piece may be equipped at a time. Most Legendary items do not have any Mod slots.

Special Item Types

Quest - Blue

Quest items are very important but not worth much outside of the task it is explicitly used for. This is not always the case however as some Quest items become very valuable to different NPCs depending on the outcome a player wants for quests which have multiple rewards from different characters.

Synergized - Red

Synergized items belong to a specific set of similar items with a matching Synergy. Equipping multiple pieces of Synergized gear pieces provides a specific bonus for each additional Synergized piece currently in use. Each gear set has distinct perks associated with them and are similar to Legendary items in that no two Synergized items will have the same perks. These bonuses are compounding, with more items of a set used simultaneously granting better perks.

Experimental - Yellow

Experimental weapons are those made by Viktor Armaments. These weapons each have their own specific research objectives. To unlock the full potential of Experimental weapons, players must fulfill objectives like achieving a certain number of kills, defeating specific enemies, or completing challenging activities while using the weapon. Once the weapon's requirement is met, players can return the weapon to a Viktor Armaments representative who will reward them with a weapon schematic for Crafting and Reputation points for the Faction.
