The Ping and Marker system is a
communications tool that allows players to
Gear, Items, Loot,
Enemies & Threats, and other points of interest in the game world to share information with their
Squadron of teammates. It is extremely valuable for coordinating strategies, planning tactics, and sharing information in real-time.
Players can customize the color, shape, sound, and overall design of their Pings and Markers through optional purchases in
The Emporium.
Pings
To activate a Ping, simply aim at a solid target and press the designated Ping
input. This will send a visual and audio cue for the player and their Squadron, marking the target as a waypoint on their screens,
Radar, and
Maps for six seconds. After six seconds of display, the Ping marker disappears over two seconds.
To prevent overuse, Pings have a 10 second cooldown before another Ping can be activated. Additionally, players can disable multiplayer Pings entirely through their settings.
Markers
Markers are akin to semi-permanent Pings. They have a slightly different appearance and audio cue, but operate very similarly.
Markers can be placed on objects or locations and will stay pinned at their placement until the player is within 2 meters of the Marker or they exit the area. Once a Marker has been placed, it is visible for a few seconds until it dissipates. However, it will appear on the player’s Radar as well as their Map. Players can use these Markers as waypoints for specific destinations.
Like Pings, Markers can be seen by everyone in a Squadron. Additionally, they may only be placed once every six seconds and only one per player may be active at a time.
