Before time itself, in the darkest corners of the early universe, the cosmos coalesced into a group of ethereal beings called The Endless.
These entities materialized into a physical state where they would hold a vast control over the very laws of existence. Nothing was beyond their reach or understanding. They thrived and prospered in every way for eons. But harmony never lasts.
The Endless eventually began to fight amongst themselves, eventually waging war against one another and creating
The Eternal Relics. These extremely powerful tools could be used to bring everlasting peace or unfathomable destruction. As a result of the epic conflict, a hole in reality was torn open into a new plane of existence:
Dark Space. A ruined battlefield haunted by extreme danger and chaos, it bred inconceivable horrors.
Eventually, only two remained: The Caretaker and The Devourer. The Caretaker was determined to save the ravaged universe while The Devourer vowed to consume everything for its own. The Caretaker was ultimately able to imprison The Devourer, finishing the fight. Unable to be destroyed but too dangerous to remain together, The Caretaker scattered them throughout the cosmos. Dark Space and its inhabitants would overwhelm reality if left unchecked, so The Caretaker sealed it away from the rest of the universe from the inside.
The Caretaker
The Caretaker is an Endless being, omnipotent and immortal. It imprisoned The Devourer during the original war and sealed Dark Space away from reality. It hibernates in the depths of the alternate realm.
The Devourer
The only other Endless being in existence. It is sealed away in
The Evermore Vault, unable to escape. It is a being of unfathomable power and destruction, determined to consume the cosmos.
The Eternal Relics
The Eternal Relics are ancient and extremely powerful objects created by The Endless. They are the driving force behind NEXUS. Knowledge of the Relics is limited as they have remained lost for eons across the universe. No one knows how many there are in total, what they look like, or even what they are capable of.
The ultimate goal of
The Carnax is the acquisition of the Relics for their own gain and universal dominance. They are already in possession of two Relics and believe one is on Earth. They search for it hoping it will lead them towards fulfilling their prophecy of universal domination.
