Many fear the untamed forest and mountains that surround Gateway City on all sides. Even standing within the city, I can feel the wild magic coursing through those strange woods and hear the activity of creatures who call it home. Strange creatures to accompany the strangeness of the place itself. In all my travels, I've never seen anything like them, even in the Multi-World Library. Nexians are just as clueless as I am and few are interested in learning more. Those who were are long gone now. In a way, the Wilds are a prison. They surround the City and enclose us all, resisting most efforts to be tamed. There are towns around, but most have succumbed to the creatures and their people fled to the City. There are roads through the Wilds leading to some of the safer areas, but those are carefully cultivated and protected, a small slice of normalcy in the strangeness. If the Wilds had their way, they would take the roads back and leave us only Gateway to be safe in. In a different way, the Wilds are freedom. A chance to be taken in by something beyond understanding and greater than anything I've ever seen. I truly believe there is nothing like it across the entire Infinite Staircase, across all the worlds that exist or ever did. Deep in those woods, there is.... something. Unlike whatever's under the City Hall, this thing is awake. But just like the beast beneath the city, this thing is hungry. For what, we'll never know. Geography The Nexian Wilds consists mostly of strange trees, a species unknown. There are some lakes documented, a couple of mountains, and a lot of ruins. Other than that, we're just not sure. It's not like we have any maps of this place. It seems to resist that quite vehemently
