Kasper Madsen

Kasper Madsen was born in Linakra in 1859. From an early age, he was interested in art, and spent many of his childhood hours painting. At age 10, he discovered he had a gift for truth magic, and could paint the truth of an incident when someone described it to him. Due to Linakra's anti-magic laws, this put his life in danger.
When Kasper was 14, he and his family fled to nearby Alaj, where they quickly assimilated--dressing in popular Alajan styles, converting to the Danos faith, and learning the Shugbo language. Though their new country was engaged in a civil conflict, it still felt safer than their old one.

At age 23, Kasper moved to Brightland to study at Bvia University. While there, he discovered the location of the Crown Staff of Dusk, when he painted it. Kasper traveled to locate the staff in the real world, and then continued traveling for some time. Though he would return to his home in Alaj or to Bvia to teach, for periods of time, he would inevitably return to traveling.
Kasper never married or had children, though he did return to Alaj to care for his parents in their old-age. He was often called upon when nearby (and even sometimes when he wasn't) to judge disputes and paint the truth of them. It was at such an event that he was killed. While meeting with members of rival alliances at Luna Lodge, an invisible enemy attacked, and Kasper was killed, along with everyone else at the meeting.
Kasper also spent time at Copperridge University in Suxad, where he taught lessons in truth magic. He was said to have taken on students all over the world, but most notably, his work in Suxad is said to have influenced the famous Vasco Painter. After his death, there was a brief attempt by his neighbors to obtain his notes and market them commercially, but the university quashed this. Copperridge did compile his travel notes into a single volume, but it's marketed primarily to academics, as he did not want his work sensationalized.
