Arcanist
The most arcane and dark arts exist in Nielea, with practitioners who are well versed in them. They know rituals, summoning, sealing, blessings, curses, and many other ways to use magic in its rawest form to create causes and effects. Those who practice these arts, known as Arcanism, are known as Arcanists, Warlocks, or Witches. The most powerful of Arcanists are had to rival due to their skill in raw magic, and many know it. This makes both Witches and Warlocks frequently in employ of nobles or armies, to act as a safeguard against enemy Arcanists and their own spells.
Career
Qualifications
Most practitioners spend several years as an apprentice or at a magic school. Apprentice Arcanists are trained in safety, kana management, beginner spells, and knowledge of the science and rules of the arcane. Once the apprentice Arcanist has passed the various tests and trials, and their teacher or teachers have found the apprentice's skills as sufficient.
Career Progression
After graduation from their apprenticeship or scholarship, an Arcanist is left to study whatever they desire. Most Arcanists gain skills from practicing, learning more knowledge, skills, and spells beyond the basics they are taught and become more renowned based on what they have learned in their life. The ultimate goal of many Arcanists is to discover or create new spells, gain a powerful but comfortable job, or even become a well known name to all.

Social Status
Because of the invaluable utility of the magic Arcanists have, they are often payed well and are in frequent demand. It takes time and effort to become a good spellcaster, and Arcanists become more in demand the more spells and knowledge they have.
History
Arcanists and the practice of the arcane have existed the longest out of all of the crafts. Aerboelis were the first known sapient race to discover and practice the art, and eventually other races learned the craft or discovered it for their own. As the result of its discovery, it acted as a basis for the discovery and practice of the other schools of magic as well as the further development of Arcanism.
Alternative Names
Many will call themselves Warocks or Witches, with Warlock being a more masculine job title, and Witches being a feminine job title. Meanwhile Arcanist is often used as a neutral title for practitioners.
