Bhagreim
The easternmost stronghold of The Realm, Bhagreim is a bastion of safety on the less-secured Eastern coast of Southern Efaanu.
Originally a far flung outpost of the Carlegnian's built on top of an Atkorian Temple, Bhagreim serves much the same purpose it has for centuries, protecting the eastern part of the continent and being a convenient stopping point for boats going around Efaanu or boats head off to distant lands. It also protects the Ularan River that flows up into the Anatlikos Lake, and is a good stopping off point for shipments coming down the river.
Government
Like most cities and provinces in the Heartland of The Realm Bhagreim is governed by the local Stuthoir of the Bealai. In Bhagreim specifically the Stuthoir traditionally choose one of their number to act as the lead administrator for the citadel once every 2 years.
Defences
Bhagreim sits atop an imposing cliff and possesses even more imposing walls, making direct assault difficult. Further, the citadels Watch force is one of the best drilled and training in The Realm since in the case of an all out invasion the citadel would be expected to hold until reinforcements arrived from The Heartlands to the west.
Industry & Trade
Bhagreim benefits somewhat from ships stopping to restock and resupply on their way to different areas of the continent, but many are unwilling to risk the treacherous waters of Southern Efaanu, meaning trade income and taxes are lower than many ports.
History
Built by the Carlegnian's as an Eastern Watch Citadel atop an abandoned Atkorian temple, Bhagreim's purpose has not changed much throughout history. Indeed, when the Carlegnian's fell and The Realm eventually took its place it found Bhagreim still holding its vigil, almost unaware of the fall of the Carlegnian's
Architecture
The citadel holds the harsh but sturdy stone and mortar construction typical of Carlegnian construction.
Geography
The waters and land around Bhagreim is rough, often cold, and barely farmable. Most food is either fished, hunted, or imported from up the river or from the Western territories.
