Genasi

Genasi are less of a race on their own, and more of an altered form of existing races (especially Humans and Halflings). Coming about due to the influx of elemental forces in Efaanu, Genasi are often born without warning or seemingly reason. While some families that have had Genasi in their ancestry seem to have a higher chance of birthing Genasi, it's not a truly predictable pattern.
They resemble their original race but often (but not always) have unusual skin color (red, green, blue, or gray), and there is something odd about them. What this is varies person to person. Sometimes ones hair may be a small fire if they're a fire genasi, while a water genasi's hair might float freely, swaying and waving as if underwater. The elemental blood flowing through their veins manifests differently in each genasi, often as magical power.
Seen in silhouette, a genasi can usually pass for their parents race. Those of earth or water descent tend to be heavier, while those of air or fire tend to be lighter. A given genasi might have some features reminiscent of their parents (pointed ears from an elf, a stockier frame and thick hair from a dwarf, small hands and feet from a halfling, exceedingly large eyes from a gnome, and so on).
Genasi come in four primary varieties tied to their respective elements: Earth, Wind, Air, and Fire. There is a fifth type, a Storm Genasi. But they are exceedingly rare to the point that there have only been four recorded instances where more than one Storm Genasi was alive in all of Efaanu at once.
While Genasi can be mostly found throughout Efaanu, they are primarily found in The Realm where they enjoy/suffer a special status. When a Genasi is born in The Realm, either to Genasi parents or non-Genasi parents, their fate has been decided. A young Genasi will be taken by their local Stuthoir (Augur) and raised in the Temple until they are sent off to the organization that their variation of Genasi is associated with. For example a Water Genasi will always join the temple to the Bealai Galahmora Biotalle, the primary religion of the realm, and become a priest or temple servant. Meanwhile, a Fire Genasi will always join the Staidear, the organization responsible for magical research and monitoring in The Realm. The only way out of this path is to either flee The Realm, die, or join the Caemon Haeori. While Genasi will always rise further than non-Genasi in the realm, they're also the most restricted by it compared to non-Genasi, who enjoy relative freedom when it comes to their destiny.
