Gith

A species of which little is known, and whose existence may be a myth.
Gith, or people matching a Gith description, show up occasionally in the historical record. From what little is known, they seem to be a yellow/green skinned tall and lithe people, often traveling in small groups or by themselves. They seem to wear strange garb and use strange equipment. 
They appear to be split into two general groups, the Githerzai and Githyanki. The Githerzai seem to be a more contemplative people, whereas the Githyanki are more martial. They do not seem to like each other much. Whether this is true of all Gith, or just some, is unknown. 
Only a few Gith have even stopped to speak of their race to anyone who bothered to write anything down, and that discussion has led to the information above.
Most people would probably confuse a Gith for a strange form of Elf, and academics (those few that bother to even discuss them) aren't entirely sure that's not the case.
