Rumah

Rumah is the last remaining city of the once proud Kryolan civilization of Tanah. Rumah's willingness to submit to the ancient Atkorian's ensured their cities survival while the rest of the great Tanahish cities were laid low and destroyed by the Atkorians.
Today Rumah stands as the eastern-most city in Lethennor. While the city is officially part of Lethennor, and pays taxes to the nation, votes in its elections, and allows outsiders, it is culturally and economically separated in a lot of ways from the nation. The Kryolan of Rumah consider themselves Rumahan first, Kryolan second, and Lethennese third.
The city is often cited by outsiders as a wonder, as Kryolan architecture is beautiful and strange to many. But the city is also somewhat off-putting to outsiders, as the reptile-like Kryolan have an entirely different view of the world than most races. While the Kryolan of Rumah make more of an effort to change their behaviors to match that of their guests, their alien mindset still takes a bit of getting used to by outsiders.

Demographics

The city is mostly made up of Kryolan, and few non-Kryolan choose to take up residence in the alien city. Those who do stay often do so in conclaves with their same race, or at least other mammals. The city is awash with constant visitors however.

Government

Unlike the rest of Lethennor, which is ruled over by the various Knightly Orders, Rumah instead is ruled over by their own King. The King rules their entire life, and after they die a new King is chosen from the Kings family by members of that family (with Kryolan families being much larger than usual mammalian families). This king also gets to vote in the elections for the Monarch of Lethennor much in the same way as Knightly Orders would.

Defences

The city is surrounded by either the Jungles Savra or the ocean on all sides. Those looking to encroach will soon find themselves under attack from the viciously effective Kryolan navy, or by the Kryolan army.
The environment in the Jungles alone is usually enough to deter invaders.

Industry & Trade

As the eastern-most port city in Lethennor, Rumah serves an important role in the trade network of Lethennor, with many ships going in and out of its harbor. Further, the Kryolan are known for their expert craftsmanship with both wood and stone.

History

Rumah was once part of Tanah, the nation of the Kryolan in ancient times. When the ancient Atkorian's conquered Efaanu Ramah was the only one to surrender. The Atkorian's then used Rumah as a staging ground and destroyed the rest of the Kryolan civilization, only sparing Rumah.
Since the fall of the Atkorian's Rumah has more or less been left to its own devices. Its people are more than happy enough to pay tithes and taxes to first the Carlegnian's and then Lethennor in exchange for their way of life not being interrupted.

Architecture

Rumahn architecture is unique and is known for its beauty. Many wonder at why the Kryolan build such amazing buildings, as its generally understood that Kryolan don't have emotions and as such have no desire for beauty. This "understanding" misses the core of the Kryolan as a people. While the Kryolan of the jungles have in some ways reverted to a more cold and logical thought process, the Kryolan of Rumah instead simply process emotions differently, they still feel emotions, just not as deeply or intensely as most mammals, and they are capable of essentially cutting off their emotions and letting the logical parts of their brains take the reigns.
As Kryolan still do have a desire for beauty and creation, their architecture reflects this. However, unlike many races Kryolan are far more sensitive of making their "nest" happy as well as themselves, leading to a unique but coherent architectural style unique to them and their city.

Geography

The area around Rumah is either the ocean, or the deep and dangerous jungles, with little exception.

Natural Resources

Rumah enjoys many mines and timber operations just outside the city. They export this for massive profits.
