Israk's Eruption

I fear what will come when wrath, death and ruin showers from the sky. Worse yet, one would say, is the quakes that once brought a civilisation's almost complete downfall. But the quakes can be dealt with and restored from, the molten rocks and debris from Israk are not as easily handled.
— Everam, Teller of Nimenra
Many tell you that they respect the mountain chain's highest peak, Israk, for its wrath is not easily quelled. The Great Quakes shook the foundation of The Dwarven Kingdom to little less than three cities but it was the eruption of Israk that laid waste to a whole city without anyone surviving.
An eruption from Israk is a devastating event but a seldom one. Scholars believe that the mountain only erupts once every few centuries, with only two known non-consistence events being the three short eruptions during the The Great Quakes period and during the Time of Kingdoms 1500 years ago.

In the shadow of history and myth

Israk has been a violent reminder of nature's capacity to devastate many, many people around Nimenra. Records and legends about eruptions overshadow many about the Gods as their impact on life has shown. One event that Israk drastically changed was when it erupted in 1893 just as Orfordwhelm's forces prepared an attack on Kingdom of Telaron. The Orfordians had set up a camp not knowing what the small quakes they felt were the oncoming of a small eruption that threw large stones down the mountain chain and onto their camp, killing several hundred beyond starting fires all over their camp. This alerted Telat outposts so they could send word of the army that marched thus preventing an invasion of the kingdom. There is also a little spoken myth that relates to the eruptions due to its implications...
