Jorvikan Seamen
I fear them. I will not try to mask any that I have for the Jorvikans... However, I respect them and their eagerness to sail outwards without alarm or worry about never returning home. Perhaps it is something in their way of life, perhaps they have no other choice but to go out where others have not, both for their survival and others. Some do it for the unknown, for the sea breeze that flows when one feels the waves carry you onwards. Out there... it is only you and the sea after all.
Few are as experienced with the seas like the Jorvikans. Many believe they hail from it instead of Jorvemland. Many of their Seamen travel up and down the Renvaren coastline with different intentions, from trade to the more evil military raids. There are known examples of Jorvikan explorers. Some of them have travelled up the Red Reign River as far as up to the estuary of Vieavon and some, according to the Jorvikans themselves, have travelled farther than any Nimenran has ever gone.
"Wild men at sea"
Jorvikans are known for being warlike in their ways and the reason being for the many raiders and warbands that come down from Jorvemland to attack their southern neighbours. Even by the sea they attack villages and towns and are a constant threat to Ravero due to the coastline that they have. However, all seamen are not raiders but also come in peace to trade and socialize. These bring their own resources such as amber, ore and leather and animal material from creatures that are not found elsewhere such as Ice Harrow and Ice Wolves.
Known among these are the explorers that come from time to time to "discover" new areas and new trade for their people. These travel usually inland to Nilaminra but are there likely received poorly as many returns soon after. There are tales amongst these that their predecessors, ancestors and other notables have travelled across the Great Ocean to new locations unheard of by others.
Inspiered explorer
One Fenrik Klovhernsman travelled northwards with a small crew to do trade with the Jorvikans and did so successfully. What few know, however, is that Fenrik took his time to also learn from the Jorvikans. Those from his crew that went there talk about how he and the tribe chief would spend days learning how to evade the shallows and islands at high speeds and navigate far from the coastline. This knowledge was valued as it helpt Fenrik and his voyage across the Great Ocean to the lands of the Shuwei.
