Bolida
Bolidas are arthropodan creatures that make their homes in the depths of cave systems on various planets. They are protected from the extreme heat and hazards of their subterranean environment by their metallic, chitinous plates covering their backs. They walk on multiple sets of legs and hold the upper portion of their body upright to manipulate objects and use weapons.
Their species has evolved to thrive in darkness, preferring to reside in subterranean regions, they prefer nocturnal schedules to avoid being blinded by sunlight. Bolidas are generally territorial, wary, and xenophobic, but they have recently established a mutually beneficial relationship with other species, primarily through trade agreements. They possess their own analog technology, which they use to mine for resources and create cavernous dwellings.
Despite being extant for millennia, bolidas were largely unaware of the outside world until a few decades ago. Even now, they tend to be aloof and dismissive of members of surface races, preferring to spend their time alone, with other bolidas, or with members of subterranean races who share their passion for excavation. Digging is a euphoric activity for bolidas, and they devote a significant portion of their lives to creating new tunnels and caves to accommodate their ever-expanding populations.
