Ileth

Geography

The geography of Ileth is similar to that of Eastern Europe and Eurasia. The coastal areas around Ileth are collectively called "The Ilethian Hinterlands," while further inland is "The Ilethian Heartland." Also called the Ilethian Plains, the area in the center of the continent is mainly dry grass steppe, on the windward side of the Coldiron Mountain range, with a cool, wet winter season and a warm, dry summer. The Ilethian Heartland is home to the country of Vindomora, with its capitol city of Goldthrone, which is arguably the largest "civilized" country on the continent. Also in the Heartland are the Orc Clans who are another predominant race in the region. The Hinterlands windward of the Coldirons are generally also hot and dry in the summers, with cold and wet winters with few deep freezes. The climate along the Coldiron Cliffs is more akin to Ireland and Scotland, or Norway -- cold, wet, windy. About half of the Coldiron Cliffs belong to Venessos, while the other half are part of the Salt States. The north-eastern frontier town of Ironharbor is where the story initially begins. The western inland portion of the continent is home to large woodlands called The Greatwood, which are unexplored, and beyond the Greatwood are the countries of Illethyr, Oswar, Ceglain, and Betrary.
