Chorrol

Small in size, but very prosperous, the seat of County Chorrol is a bastion of civilization in the vast and dizzying redwood forest which dominates most of western Cyrodiil. Its citizens boast of their piety, their prosperity, and their welcoming community, even as the poorest among them are relagated to the unseen slums. Visitors of wealth or prestige are treated like royalty, shuttled from business to business to share in their joyful community through the bonding ritual of commerce.

Districts

Fountain Gate

At the entrance of the city is a grand plaza lined with shops, inns, and smithy. The famous Oak and Crosier Inn greets visitors with the welcoming aroma of the finest venison stew in Tamriel.

Great Oak Place

The road north of the city gate leads to Great Oak Place, where Chorrol's most prestigious residents live in view of the eponymous oak tree which stands as the living soul of the city. This neighborhood also boasts Chorrol's prestigious Guildhalls, including the Fighters and Mages Guilds, whose reputations have suffered a great deal due to their inaction during the Oblivion Crisis. Behind the neighborhood is an outdoor apitheater where music and theatre are performed for the public good.

Chapel Street

The western road leads to the broader residential area of the city, built in deferential protestration of the Great Chapel of Stendarr, whose teachings remind the citizens of the importance of justice and the rule of law.

West Chorrol

Farther west are the ruins of Old Chorrol, destroyed in the centuries-long Interregnum before Tiber Septim liberated Tamriel from its chaos. Among the crumbling walls of the old city is a shantytown where the city's poor laborers are kept out of the sight of visitors and the elite.

Countess' Court

The northeast corner of the city is devoted to the beauty and prosperity of County Chorrol. Built since the horros of the Oblivion Crisis, a great public garden helps brighten the city and feed its poor. At its heart lies the humble Castle Chorrol where the city's beloved Countess hears the pleas of her citizens. Behind the castle is the Countess' private garden, a relatively small courtyard of rare flowers and shrubs collected throughout Tamriel as gifts for the widowed sovereign.

Points of interest

The Oak and Crosier Inn

A bustling stop for well-to-do travelers and respectible townsfolk alike. This inn has earned its stripes over centuries, renowned across Colovia for its hospitality, fine cuisine, and perfectly soft beds. Provided you can afford its comforts, of course.

The Academy of Chorrol

Just south of the city gates proudly sits the foremost institute of learning this side of the Niben. Its faculty are specialized in the fields of archaeology, sociology, and economics. Its alumni are among the most respected in each of these fields.

Touch of the Healer's Hand

A beautiful and solemn statue of St. Osla, whose ministrations saved hundreds of poor souls from returning to Aetherius before their time. The Saint of Sancre Tor is knelt with a wounded soldier lying across her lap. Together, they adorn a great fountain where travelors leave coins in prayer to the Saint for healing. All offerings are collected and donated to the nearby monestary.

Great Chapel of Stendarr

Among the most beautiful cathedrals in Tamriel, the Great Chapel of Stendarr is the seat of worship of the God of Mercy. Its head priestess Orag gra-Bargol offers healing services and transcribes scrolls and spelltomes of Restoration for those learned in magic. Part of the proceeds goes to the distant Sisters of Mercy convent deep in the Colovian Highlands

Weynon Priory

Located a few miles outside the city, this monestary is every bit a part of the soul of Chorrol as its church. Citizens regularly make pilgrimage to the monestary, leaving donations of food, money, wines, and books for those learned men persuant to their contemplation of the secrets of the apotheosis of Divine Talos.
