A Cold Winter

Natalya lives alone in the bumblebear cave alone during the harsh winter. She devises a plan to face Pufuktin and to meet her end.

Natalya felt the icy wind burn her face. She had been living in the mountains for a few months now. She was staying in the bumblebear cave that she and Fenneck had used during their outings. These months were hard but she was able to sustain herself on the small garden Fenneck had planted and charmed inside the cave. Some nights she found herself trying to talk to the apple tree from her loneliness. Not like Fenneck could, it never seemed to answer her. She planned on leaving soon, to head back into Lenisily, this time to face Pufuktin. She decided not to waste time on Dimitri. Her plan wasn't going to be ruined again by her foolish heart. She decided Fenneck made the right choice all those years ago, swearing off love. She shoved her thoughts of Fenneck away. She cleared the cave. She feared Fenneck would come to live here himself if he decided to venture back into the mountains and decided that she would leave with the winter. She had already put it off long enough. She wanted desperately to leave something for him, a note or trinket for him but she fought the urge and forced herself to leave the safety of the cave. She headed toward Lenisily.
