The Green Dress

Life, Identity

5/6

Evelyn and Fenneck sleep together at the ball. Evelyn talks to Dmitri about the risks of having an affair.

Evelyn studied herself in the mirror, admiring the green dress Fenneck had made her. It was the prettiest gown she'd ever worn and loved the hidden details he seemed to have hidden throughout the dress in beautiful embroidery. She spun around in the mirror and sighed as she heard a knock at her door. She checked herself one more time before walking over and opening the door to see Marshal Pufuktin. "Your highness," he said as he bowed to her. "I was sent to accompany you into the ballroom," he explained. She pursed her lips and gave him a fake smile. "I suppose that makes sense," she mused. "It's quite dangerous to walk the whole five hundred feet over to the ballroom door," she said, unable to hide her snarky sarcasm from her voice. The Marshal looked unamused by this. "Well the halls are full of more people than normal," he pointed out. "Besides, your mother wants me to introduce you to General Antov," he explained, much to Evelyn's annoyance. All she really wanted to do was lie in her bed and think about her adorable tailor. She reluctantly took his arm and let him lead her into the ballroom. He walked her over to a high-elf with darker blond hair that was pulled back into a weird ponytail and was wearing a very explicit KAV uniformed suit. He was talking to her brother and he bowed to her as they approached. "Your highness," he greeted her. She nodded politely to him. "General Antov, so wonderful for you to join us here in Flottenheim," she told him. "Of course," he assured her, looking her over intensely. "Are you free for a dance?" he asked her. Evelyn nodded and took his arm as he led her to the ballroom floor. They danced to a couple songs before Jasna finally arrived and General Antov quickly exchanged Evelyn's hand for Jasna's. Evelyn was quite alright with this and ducked off to the edge of the room to hide from anymore annoying suitors. She wasn't in the mood tonight. She leaned against the wall and suddenly realized someone was staring at her to her right, across the doorway she was next to. A smile crept onto her face as she saw Fenneck, wearing a brown wig and a disguise, trying to catch her eye. She felt her stomach explode with butterflies and she nodded for him to follow her and she carefully made her way down a hallway and into one of the palaces spare rooms. She waited for what felt like eternity until Fenneck walked into the room behind her.   "What are you doing here?" she whispered to him. "I... I wanted to speak with you," he said nervously. Evelyn smiled at him. He was so adorable and sweet, something she wasn't used to. "You could get in trouble for being here!" she warned him. "My father could have you killed for showing up to a party like this uninvited!" She didn't want him to get hurt as much as she loved the idea of being with him. Fenneck gulped and gave her a hopeless smile. "I... I couldn't stop thinking about you," he admitted. She felt herself start to relax as she realized he shared the same feelings for her. "Really?" she asked him in disbelief. "Well... yes," Fenneck said, blushing. "Why?" she asked him. Surely he had all kinds of woman falling at his feet. He could marry anyone except her with his position in life. Fenneck shrugged. "I... I'm not sure," he admitted nervously. "You're just... I'm just confused I think," he told her, shaking his head as his chest and ears started to flush red. She cocked her head at him and glanced at the door and waved a hand at it, locking it magically, before looking back at him as Dmitri's words of advise came to her mind. Fall madly inlove with someone before you're trapped like me.   "You're really, really handsome," she told him sweetly, letting her heart's pounding desire take over. Fenneck swallowed nervously. "Th-thank you. You... you're just so... beautiful..." he told her bashfully. "Why did you kiss me that day?" he asked her, clearly having thought about it many times since then. She shrugged. "I'm not sure," she admitted. "I just liked you. You were so... genuine and sweet," she told him honestly. "I'm not used to that." Fenneck was beat red now and Evelyn could see the heat and nerves radiating off of his body in the magical energy around them. She smiled coyly at him. "Well," she said slowly moving toward him. "You finally have me alone," she pointed out, only a few inches away from him now. "What do you want to... do?" Fenneck stepped closer to her. "I...um..." he stuttered.   Evelyn walked into his arms and leaned her face up toward his. He slowly leaned down and gently kissed her her lips again. She kissed him back and excitedly pulled him toward the bed. She pulled his ridiculous wig off as she kissed him and Fenneck let himself go as he turned her in his arms and started undoing the ties on her brand new dress. He nuzzled his face against hers as he worked and Evelyn giggled excitedly as his warm breath on her skin sent warm gitters and excited tingles through her body. He finally got her out of the dress and pulled her body into his loving embrace when she was in her undergarments. Evelyn quickly took his own clothes off of him, excited to see her lover's body for the first time as she caressed his smooth elegant chest. He made love to her and Evelyn felt her heart start to melt as she gave herself to him.   After a few hours and when they had both finished, Fenneck held her in his arms as she smiled up at him. He was so handsome and gentle. Fenneck kissed her sweetly and looked longingly into her eyes. "I want to see you again," he told her decisively. She sighed and leaned into him, not wanting this dream to end. "I don't know," she said sadly, as reality started to fade back into the picture. "It's risky. We should get dressed and head back out," she decided as she sat up and started putting her stockings back on. "I'll go first," she told him. "You should wait a few minutes before you follow me." She stood and picked her shift up off the ground, slipping it on over her body. "Will I see you again?" he begged her. She turned back and felt her heart break at the idea of never being with him again. She frowned before giving him a weak shrug. "It's really dangerous, Fenneck," she told him. "I don't want you or your family to get into trouble." Fenneck nodded sadly and stood up and quickly threw his pants back on. "Yeah, I guess I was kind of an idiot for doing this," he said, looking embarrassed as he picked up the brown wig off the floor and tucked his matted braid of pretty white hair underneath it. Evelyn giggled at the ridiculous wig. "You really went through all this trouble just to see me?" she asked him, enamored by the romantic gesture. "You don't have suitors constantly falling at your feet?" he asked her in confusion. She shrugged. "Not really," she told him. "They all want my sister." She started trying to put her corset back on and Fenneck went to help her by lacing it up in the back. "Well they're all foolish," he told her. "You're one of the most beautiful creatures I've ever met." She smiled sadly, hating that she would have to break his heart. He finished her corset and helped slip her pretty green dress over her head and he started lacing it up. "It's a lovely dress," she complimented his work, caressing the fabric. "I'm glad you think so," he said sweetly. "It's the first time my uncle allowed me to design one for such a... grand occasion. Or such an important person." "Naertho's your uncle?" she asked him. "Yes, he's my mom's brother," he explained. "I've studied with him for thirty-five years now," he told her as he tied the lace into a beautiful bow. "Your hard work shows," she complimented him again. "It's a shame I didn't wear it for most of the night," she said teasingly before turning around to face him and pulling him down into another sensual kiss. She wished it could last forever. He was so sweet and loving. She had a responsibility though. She had duties. And the both had their place in society. She finally pulled away slowly and silently moved to the door. "Please tell me I can see you again, Evelyn?" he begged her. She looked down shyly. "I don't know, Fenneck," she told him honestly. "Be careful getting out of here." She opened the door and cast Fenneck a longing look before closing it behind her.   She quickly made her way back into the ballroom and saw Dmitri leaning against the wall on the opposite side of the ballroom, looking cool and bored like he always did at these things in a fancy black tunic with his long blond hair loose around his face. She walked over to him and beckoned him to follow her out to the balcony. He did and they walked out to the railing together. He pulled out his pipe to smoke in the cold wind. "Where the hell did you run off to?" he asked her casually. "Nowhere," she told him. "I have a question," she told him before taking the pipe out of his hands and taking a puff herself, prompting her to start coughing rigorously. "You're an idiot," he scolded her as he took the pipe back. "Come on," he said, "I saw you run off with someone," he told her before taking another puff. "Did anyone else notice?" she asked him. He shrugged. "Who knows? Looks like Jasna beat you with General Antov, though, so I guess you're off the hook there," he told her. "Thank the gods," she mused. "He was creepy." Dmitri chuckled and offered her the pipe again and she took another puff. "Don't tell my mother about this, by the way," she told him. He smiled at her. "Never," he promised. "So what's your question?" he asked her. "You said that I should fall in love if I get the chance?" she asked him. He smiled mischieviously at her and shook his head. "Oh Evelyn..." he mused. "What poor soul have you fallen captive to?" he asked her. "That's not the point," she told him sternly. "If... say I were to engage in such an affair... what would the consequences be? And I want you to be honest with me," she asked him. He pondered this for a moment as he smoked before nodding and pursing his lips and giving her a frown. "Well... It's complicated," he told her. "When engaging in such affairs... it's always dangerous. For both parties," he warned her. "You sound like you have experience," she told him questioningly. He shrugged. "Wanna come to my room and find out?" he offered jokingly. "Look, Amanya is all the way in Leniscow," he said. "I never see her and when I do... we just fight the whole time. I'm also a man, though. I have it way easier than you do when it comes to such... activities," he pointed out. "Clearly," she mused. He smiled. "To be perfectly frank with you, he... or she, definitely if it's a she, would probably face pretty heavy consequences. I don't know if they'd lose their life per-say, but you are a princess and there are some who believe you should be... pure... on your wedding night," he told her frankly. "But... look, if you're careful and you know, don't be stupid about it, you'll probably be fine. Just don't get knocked up," he warned her. She stole his pipe again as she started to worry about the danger she might have put Fenneck in. "I'm too young for that," she assured Dmitri. He shrugged and took his pipe back to refill it. "Just saying," he mused. "You should probably get back inside. Your mother will be looking for you," he warned her as he looked out over Flottenheim. She sighed and leaned off the icy railing to go. "And Ev," he stopped her. "Be careful," he warned her with a serious look in his bright blue eyes. "I will," she told him before going back to the party and dancing with more of the boring suitors, deciding this affair was probably not worth the risks.
