The Astral Pantheon are the beings responsible for the elemental magic that runs through the world, and were the gods that originally brought life into Nocturn.
Structure
There are two categorizations within the Astral Pantheon. The absolute highest-ranking deities are referred to as Constellations. These are the nine gods that handle the very basis of the world, each one presiding over an element. Each of these Constellations have tremendous power, with total control and mastery over a ninth of the world's magic. The minor deities within the Pantheon are referred to as Asterisms. Asterisms are greater in number, but diminished in power compared to the Constellations above them. They have control over more specific things, such as innovation, fortune, or creativity.
Corporeal Form
Deity elementals, as mentioned before, are incredibly powerful beings. Their form usually takes one of two shapes: a cloaked figure exhibiting traits of their respective elemental people (horns for Steel, avian wings for Air, etc.), with a mask covering their face. The faces of the Constellations and Asterisms are almost never seen, due to a complication that occurs when they remove their masks. Their second form manifests only when these masks are taken off, revealing the deity's unharnessed form as a dragon. As dragons, their power is completely unfettered, but becomes hard to control even by the deity, so this form is usually avoided by most gods.
Astral Presence
As their titles suggest, the deities of the Astral Pantheon are represented in the night sky in the form of star patterns. Every distinct constellation in the starscape correlates to a god, and reflect their power. Nights where certain constellations shine brighter are considered to be sacred to that deity, and were once regularly celebrated by people all across the world.
Shattered Era
With the Shattering, the Astral Pantheon was thrown into complete disarray. The constellations themselves disappeared, with no trace of their presence except for their manifestations in the night sky. As for the Asterisms, they were literally grounded to the world, losing most of their elemental ability and being forced into their humanoid form.
