Chester Copper

Chester runs gambling operation in Haram Bay at Chum. He is a youngish man, in his late twenties. He runs the betting at the chum with the help of several runners that he uses to take bets and collect payouts.
While he is not an imposing figure, his enforcer i quite the opposite. A Large barbarian from the north of the blacklands called Gronk. Anyone not paying up their debts with Chester can expect a visit from the big man.
In addition to his operation in Chum Chester is known as a man who knows things. He has his ear in what is happening in Haram Bay and contacts all over town. Folks looking for information would do well to check with Chester. Chester is also a person willing to go in on any enterprise that has a chance of making money.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Chester in is pretty good physical condition. He is more Lithe than bulky, and is not unused to running, usually form someone that want to do him harm.

Facial Features

Chester has a short and neatly trimmed beard and mustache. He also has a small scar on his chin which only add to his attractiveness, giving him just a touch of a "bad boy" image.

Apparel & Accessories

Chester still considers himself a pirate, even though he hasn't crewed a ship in a couple of years. He still dresses like a typical pirate. He usually has a bit more jewelry than you would find on a crewmember of a pirate ship. He carries a cutlass and Pistol, and wears a sash around his waist. His clothes are always neat and clean though.

Specialized Equipment

Chester carries a custom made pistol he calls Mary. It is double barreled and can fire two bullets before neding to reload. Chester is not a great shot with it, but looks damn good holding it.

Personal history

Chester's childhood is not well known, but he was the quartermaster on a pirate ship, and while he was a capable fighter, he had always thought there was a better way to be making a living. One that didn't require him to put his life on the line so much. He saw an opportunity when his ship took a mark off the shore of seaport. Chester recognized the name of one of the passengers, and managed to sneak her aboard the ship. He planned to ransom her off to her family for a sizable payday. Before they could get back to a safe harbor though, the survivors of the attack made it back to seaport and soon the navy was after Chester's ships.

The captain was surprised as he didn't think he has stolen enough to warrant that kind of attention, so he double checked the cargo, and found the noble that Chester was keeping. He set her in a boat, and left her for the navy to find. He would have sent Chester to the depths but they had been good friend, so instead he kicked him from the crew when they got to Haram Bay.
Chester tried to sail with a few other captains, but now he had a reputation and no one take him on. He tried a few thing to try to make a living but not good at any of them, until he was an opportunity at Chum. Always being good with figures, and being a decent judge of people, he was able to quickly learn to spot dark horses in the cage. He started taking bets, and soon had plenty of gold to live on.

Chester has never been one to settle though and he used that gold to hire Gronk and basically force the other people taking bets out of the chum Soon he was in charge of al the abetting there, and making plenty of gold.

He started investing some of that gold in cargoes, and businesses and now has his hand in quite a few different things in the town. He is careful not to push too far, keeping Olivya on his good side.

Sexuality

Chester is known around the Bay as a "Ladies Man". He is handsome for a pirate and very charming and due to this he has had his share of women. While he doesn't pursue men, he is willing to mix things things up if the right woman is involved.

Education

Chester seems to have some type of formal learning as he knows math and can read and write several languages. He is also very good with ledgers and organization making him a great ship's quartermaster before his unfortunate incident.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Chester is slowly becoming the second most powerful man in Haram Bay, but not many people know that. He has invested in quite a few businesses, even had a hand in some of the Hesh trade that is not controlled by Dain.

Failures & Embarrassments

Chester's minor betrayal of his old captain, who was a close friend, and crew bother him deeply and also has tarnished his reputation with most of the pirates of the Bay. While they will deal with him, and work with and even drink with, no one would sail with him.

Intellectual Characteristics

Chester is really good as looking at situations and quickly assessing option and choosing the best one. While he is known for him gambling enterprises he rarely bets on situations where he has a good chance of losing.

While Chester always puts Chester first he is a decent person. He doesn't like hurting other, especially innocents, and he doesn't like it when people think bad of him. His fear of being disliked is a greater motivation that his morals.
