House Aelynn
House Aelynn (Ay-lin) is one of the great Noble houses of ELvenhome. House Aelynn is the house of Treesingers. It is a small but powerful house. A treesinger is an elf that has the ability alter the shape of trees through magical singing. It allows the Elves of Elvenhome to create beautiful living spaces, tools, and other ordinary items without cutting into the tree for wood. It also allows the elves to use their magic to strengthen the trees, cure disease in the trees, and even prolong their life. Through the Power of treesinging the Elves have developed a symbiotic relationship with the wood around them, each one co-depoendant on each other.
Treesinging is a rare gift among the elves, and because of this there are very few true treesingers in House Aelynn. The house is also made up of regular elves who tend trees and other plants that may not have the gift, and Elven Druid who use standard magic in concert with nature.
Treesingers or House Aelynn can also be called on in emergencies to rouse the forest to help protect the Bity and surrounding lands. The tree singers can, for a time, lend thier essences to the forest and allow the trees to animate and defend the city. This is rarely done, as there is some danger of an Elf not being able to come our of the trance required for this, and becoming a part of the forest forever.

Culture
The Elves of House Aelynn revere nature even more than the other Elves of Elvenhome. The Treesinger's connections with the great trees is one that they can actually speak and understand the spirit in the trees. This leads to a view where the tress are more like entities than plants.
Public Agenda
To maintain the connection between the Elesti and the Great trees of the Forest. To protect the forest from their mutual enemies, and to teach the Elesti that the wood around them is a living breathing entity and deserving of respect as much as any other species.
History
The art of Treesinging was not a thing in Arvendar. The plants and animals of that realm had a natural intelligence that anyone could interact with, no special skill was required. It was one of the things that was a shock to the Elves when they cam to Nor, that the wildlife seemed cold and distant, and the trees dead, and inert. It wasn;t until they came to the region that is now know as Elvenhome when Luvil Aelynn discovered that the trees of this region were more receptive to their magic than other places. Luvil tried many way of awakening the spirits inside, but singing worked the best. It seemed the close connection with the region and the Land of Fairy made the connection to the innate spirit of the tree possible. He became the first Treesinger. It was his skill that allowed the elves to created their homes, and establish a bond with the forest itself, granting them a place of safety. House Aelynn was elevated to a Great House and Luvil set to training other in the art. They did not know at the time that the ability of Treesinging was an innate gift, not granted to all Elesti. They made the house responsible for also testing every elf and those who could would have a duty to learn. The talent was recognized as essential. In fact Treesingers often enter arranged marriages with other tree singers to help nurture the ability, and prevent it from dying out.
