New player Info
Welcome prospective new players. Thank you for you interest in the World of Nor Campaign. Please read the following information. I have put it together to tell you a little bit about my game, the way I DM, and what I expect from players. This is to help you decide if you will have fun in my game.
First thing I would like to say is that I am a storyteller DM. I build each of my campaign around a story. Sometimes it is a large overarching storyline that will have a big impacts on the campaign world. Other times the game is more character based, but either way, I am more about the Roleplaying than I am about the game aspect. While I try to have a good balance of combat, and RP, there are games where we don't see combat at all. We do have some games that go the other way, with a lot of combat, and little RP but it is a lot less common.
Second thing is the campaign is traditional Fantasy. While I don't mind a character out of the box here and there, I prefer traditional races and standard tropes. If your character idea is for something really unusual, there is a good chance it will not get approved unless there is a really good reason for it. This is to keep those types of characters rare and special. If they show up too much, then they lose their uniqueness. There are also concepts, classes etc. that don't fit the campaign world. Not everything is available. Please respect that, and if I tell you an idea doesn't work, trust that there is a game reason.
Third: I am really looking for a player that will be interested in the world itself. The history of the campaign world has been built by the contributions of past players. You have a chance to leave your mark on the campaign world. Whether it be from the actions of your PC, or because you have a cool idea that you bring up and it becomes part of the campaign world (A city, and organization, a piece or lore, etc.) you can add to the world, not only for your game, but for other campaigns that happen in the world in the future.
What I expect from my players is that they make the games (We play every other Saturday) and they stay involved. If you can't make a game, I need to know ahead of the time. While I know things happen, and sometimes can't be helped, it shouldn't be a common occurrence. Additionally, if you can't commit to the schedule, this isn't the game for you. Missing too many games is reason to be asked to leave the game. Please be active on the discord. Write a backstory for your character and post it on World Anvil. Contribute to the game, and the world lore. I don't expect you to write fiction every day on the game, but I would really like players that are involved in the game not just during the session. I will ask from time to time for feedback on worldbuilding stuff, mechanics, etc. I'm looking for people that want to be a part of that. Thank you for reading through this so far, but I have some more too. Below is information that you should know if you want to join the game.
Please look at the House Rules.
Make sure you're ok with them.
The main world page is www.worldofnor.info You should take a quick look at the World of Nor info pages. It has things like currency names, drinks, etc. small things that residents would know. Also take a look at the Campaign info page. This will give you information on the current state of the world, and what the party is currently trying to do. Thank you for your interest and for taking the time to go through this (If you are still reading.) Let me know of you are still interested.
