Who is Cross Eyed Jack, Part I
General Summary
The party needs to find th erings that Jack stole from the Vemoraxx. In order to do that though, they need to know more about the Pirate Cross-Eyed Jack, and what better palce to search out a pirate story than Freeport.
The Party installed the Stone of Air on the Mistral, and after a bit of nudgeing the ship took to the air. The crew had some trouble navigating at first but soon got the hang of it. Cantatus knows his job well. They set down about 20 miles from Freeport, and came oin the noral way, as to not draw suspicion.
In the Freeport Docks they met with Uvan, a sorceror that Crissius knew well and was grooming for the order. He joined them, replaceing Finn who stayed behind in Elvenhome.
Then they took the opportunity to unload some of the treasure they collected on thier adventures. After spending a few days in city crafting, training, and searcing out info on Cross-eyed jack, they discovered that there is a survivor of Jack's crew incarcerated in the Tombs.
They managed to bribe the right people to get in to talk to him and met the half elf Chipper Graybeard. He told them he knew Jack and exactly what jack did with that treasure. He was willing to tell them all too, if them helped him with an issue he had. He felt he owed somthing to someone who did him a favor a while ago, and wanted to pay her back, so he asked the party to find a treasure he had buried years ago on a small island south of Skull and bring it to a girl that worked in the Dock, as a thank you form him, for how her mother had treated him in the past. The party agreed but there were obstacles.
The house Chipper used to live in where he hid his map, was not the home of several rowdy and unpleasant Half Orcs. The party managed to fool them into thinking that Carados was a local reporter form the Freeport Times, and was willing to go to the local tavern to tell thier story of how they left the Longshoremen’s Union and tried to form thier own, but were basically black-balled from work on the docks. While they were there, Willie and Trevayn slipped into the house and found the treasure map, getting out before the Half-orcs returned home.
The party at the tavern thoguh did not escape unscathed, as these half-orcs liked to drink and like to drink as a group and did not take no for an answer. Before the end of the night, Uvan and David were both unconscious, one from drink, and the other from headbutting a chair. Dylan who also won a fight between a chair and his forehead, carried David back, while Carados dragged Uvan. The next morning was not pleasant for any of them, but at least they got the map. Next step, off to the island to dig up the treasure. None of them had any true belief that the task would be as easy as it sounds.
